Insights from Campus Visits: Enhancing Student Success Together

Our team spent time on three partner university campuses this summer — and returned with deeper insights into what students require from our partnership.

International education can sometimes be reduced to dashboards, enrollment reports, and scheduled calls. While these tools are essential, they cannot capture the full scope of the student experience. This summer, by visiting three of our partner campuses and engaging in onsite activities, we witnessed firsthand aspects of academic life that become visible only through direct immersion.

The initial impression was the palpable energy
. Students transitioning between classes, collaborating in communal spaces, exchanging notes before exams, and introducing peers from diverse backgrounds to each other. While engagement metrics are difficult to quantify remotely, the vibrancy and commitment to their academic paths were unmistakable in person. Across all campuses, students were not merely enrolled; they actively participated, cultivating a supportive community essential for navigating rigorous academic programs.

The most valuable outcome of these visits was the opportunity for direct conversations with students. Hearing students articulate their academic journeys — their reasons for choosing specific programs, unexpected challenges after arrival, transitional difficulties, and sources of support — provided critical context often absent from reports. Conversations ranged from coursework and professional aspirations to nuanced experiences such as forming study groups, adapting during the first semester away from home, and identifying the appropriate institutional contacts for various concerns. These details distinguish students who merely cope from those who truly thrive.

Equally insightful was our engagement with university colleagues in admissions, advising, and student support. Combining their perspectives with those of students yielded a comprehensive understanding of the student experience. Alignment between these viewpoints instilled confidence in existing processes. Conversely, disparities illuminated important questions, such as when internal procedures are perceived as unclear by students or when support services exist but fail to reach those who need them most.

Participation in campus programming further enriched our perspective. Observing student engagement beyond academics demonstrated how a sense of belonging significantly shapes the overall educational experience. Understanding how community interactions foster perseverance adds depth to our support strategies.

These immersive visits have equipped our team with enhanced understanding and new viewpoints to better assist students and collaborate with university partners. We are proactively implementing improvements — refining pre-arrival preparations, enhancing guidance during students’ initial semester, and strengthening coordination with partner university teams at critical student support points.

We appreciate the warm hospitality extended by all three campus communities and the candid insights shared by students and staff. Partnership is fundamentally rooted in direct connection, and these experiences reaffirm why we prioritize such engagements.

We look forward to collaborative growth and learning opportunities in the upcoming year!
