DHS Rule Changea Explained Expert Briefing by GoElite for F-1 Students
Why We Hosted This Event
When the Department of Homeland Security published its final rule on F-1, OPT, and Curricular Practical Training (CPT) status, commonly referred to as the DHS Rule Change, the international student community was met with speculation, partially accurate social media posts, and conflicting advice. To ensure students make informed decisions based on accurate information, GoElite organized a free, live briefing to provide expert-vetted insights directly from credible sources.
This event represented a significant milestone for GoElite: our first large-scale expert panel of its kind. The goal was straightforward — offer F-1 students, prospects interested in partner universities offering immediate CPT, and university Designated School Officials (DSOs) a reliable resource to understand the DHS Rule Change without confusion or the barriers of paid consultations.

Meet the Speakers
We convened a panel of five experts to address the DHS Rule Change from all critical perspectives, including compliance, legal strategy, and student status:
-
Nathan Hawkins — Designated School Official (DSO)
-
Joshua Schoonover — Designated School Official (DSO)
-
Adam Cohen — Immigration Attorney
-
Xiaojie "Marta" Meng — Immigration Attorney
-
David Gluckman — Immigration Attorney
With both DSOs and immigration attorneys represented, attendees received a comprehensive overview addressing the DHS Rule Change from its legal framework to practical implications on campus, SEVIS, and daily compliance.
