Academic Policy
- GBC offers three semesters annually for its Day 1 CPT Programs: Fall, Spring, and Summer.
- International students are required to enroll in a minimum of two courses per semester, totaling 6 credits, which includes one online and one hybrid course.
CPT Policy

CPT Activation Timing: Some graduate students may be eligible for employment under CPT as early as the start of their program. Others must wait until they have completed one full year of academic study before gaining CPT eligibility. CPT can be authorized for one full year at a time, and students have the ability to Students who are eligible to apply for CPT immediately must meet both criteria below:
- Have completed one full year of academic study at a regionally accredited, not-for-profit college or university in the U.S., and
- Are currently in active F1 status

Students on working visas (H1B, L1, L2, J1, J2) who are seeking a change of status to F1 may be permitted to work immediately upon enrollment and change of status approval, subject to Designated School Official (DSO) approval. Students who are NOT eligible to apply for CPT until they have completed one full academic year (3 consecutive semesters) at GBC if they:
- Are currently on H4, F2, or B1/B2 visas and seeking change of status, and/or
- Have not studied academically at a regionally accredited, not-for-profit college or university in the U.S. for one full academic year (ESL programs are not considered academic study), and/or
- Are arriving directly from overseas on a new I-20 with a new SEVIS ID number (F1 residency requirements met on one SEVIS ID# are NOT transferrable to a new SEVIS ID#)

CPT Application: In order to start the CPT application review, a new GBC student should submit the following to International Student Services and a returning student should submit the following documents to Career Services, careers@gbc.edu:
- The CPT Application Form;
- The CPT Employer and Student Agreement Form;
- An offer/hire letter from the student’s potential employer; and
- The student’s most recent resume.

CPT Application Deadline: There is no deadline for applying for CPT. If students wish to begin CPT with their courses, they will want to apply for CPT about two weeks before the start of the session. CPT processing can take up to 10 business days but can also be processed more swiftly depending on the current volume.

CPT and Internship Credit: Graduates will have a 1-credit internship course added to their schedule in the semester in which they receive CPT approval. At all degree levels, a term paper and employer evaluation must be submitted as the student is nearing the end of the CPT term in order for the student to receive a grade for the internship course. Term paper requirements and the link to the employer evaluation can be found at the bottom of the Curricular Practical Training (CPT) page under the “Career Services” tab on Campus Web. The link to the employer evaluation should be sent to the student’s supervisor so the employer can directly submit their evaluation to Academic Affairs.
Onsite Policy
- Attendance is mandatory for students; failure to attend onsite courses will result in the loss of F1 status.
- Onsite Requirement: 2 days per semester
- On-site Date: On-site sessions occur, essentially, once a month. However, students are not required to enroll in a hybrid course for both sessions in a semester. Most students will come to campus two times in an 8-week session while enrolling entirely online in the other session for the semester.

Vacation Policy
- Due to the College’s definition of full-time enrollment, there is no leave policy for a student wanting to take a vacation while maintaining an F-1 status. Students can have their SEVIS record terminated for “Authorized Early Withdrawal,” and be re-activated within 5 months if they so choose and if they leave the country. There is no allowance for vacation from courses while remaining in the U.S. on an F-1 visa status.

- Students are eligible to enroll in an interest-free payment plan, which allows them to make monthly payments toward their bill.
CPT Programs
Master's programs- Requires completion of 36 credits;
- Typically finished in an average of 2 years; students may pursue additional master’s degrees after their first 2-year program and can apply for CPT for the duration of the additional degree. Additional degrees require anywhere from 9 credits to 18 credits, ranging from an additional semester and a half to up to another year of studying and CPT.
- Can provide up to 2-3 additional opportunities for H1B lottery.
- Students who do not have previous education or work experience in business and/or finance will take one or two Core Competency Courses to prepare them for their later graduate coursework. Students who have education or experience in business and/or finance will take electives instead of the foundation courses.
The MBA Analytical Track program equips students with essential skills and knowledge to excel in management, marketing, and corporate finance while preparing them for long-term success in their careers. Graduates will demonstrate a strong understanding of key management concepts, decision-making technologies, and marketing strategies to navigate complex environments. They will master advanced corporate finance topics, including capital budgeting, cost of capital, financial analysis, and valuation methodologies, while also developing the professional knowledge and skills required to secure employment in their field. The program emphasizes leadership, social responsibility, and ethical decision-making, ensuring graduates are well-prepared to make meaningful contributions and achieve sustained success in their industries. For the Summer Sessions, while some undergraduate courses are starting on the Monday of those sessions, graduate courses are only offered in a Saturday format, so the Semester Start Date aligns with the first Saturday class date.

- Official Transcript (minimum GPA 2.5): If the credential is clear as well as the conferral date, we accept unofficial copies of international transcripts as long as the diploma/certificate is submitted.
- A WES evaluation is only required if (1) the student’s education was at the same degree level (e.g. graduate) and they wish to transfer in credits or if (2) it is unclear on the documentation provided what degree credential was achieved.
- English Proficiency Scores (Waivable if the student has completed 12 credits or more of coursework in English or is Changing Status from any non-tourist visa)
- Bank statement from the last three months showing a balance deposit of $37,747 or more (equivalent amounts in other currencies are acceptable). The College also accepts two months’ worth of paystubs as proof of financial ability.
- Students may utilize someone else’s financial documentation. A completed Affidavit of Support form is required in these cases.
