This article will guide you step-by-step on how to schedule an F-1 visa interview.
* In 2024, the U.S. Visa Services implemented a new system. Be sure to use the correct application portal.
Step 1: Create an account and log in
First, enter the official website of U.S. visa services. Next, create an account with your personal email address. If you forget your password, you can reset it using an email verification code. If you lose access, do not create a new account with the same personal information, as this may lead to a temporary account suspension. In case you are unable to access your account, contact customer support at support@ustraveldocs.com for assistance.
Remember your answers to the security questions, as you will need them each time you log in.
After creating the profile, use your username and password to log in, please note that the CAPTCHA texts are case sensitive.
After logging in, you will see the page below.
Step 2: Complete Your Application
Click “Start Application” and fill out your personal information, including your name, gender, contact information, mailing address, and passport information.
Choose the visa type and location as shown below. Please note that the location must match the one selected when completing the DS-160 form.
Enter your DS-160 number. Once your visa interview appointment is scheduled, the DS-160 number cannot be changed. If you need to update your DS-160 number, you must close the current application and start a new one.
Step 3: Pay the Visa Fee
After completing all required information, pay the $185 visa fee for the F visa. Be sure to save the receipt number for future reference.
Step 4: Schedule the Visa Appointment
Choose a date and time that are convenient for you.
After completing Form DS-160 and paying the fee, you will be able to view available appointment slots at the chosen consulate. Sometimes, your preferred location may not have any open slots, requiring you to consider other consulates with availability. In this situation, since you have already selected a consulate for your interview, the original form cannot be modified.
Don't worry, though—you can fill out and submit a new DS-160 form. The system will have a record of your payment, so there's no need to pay again. It enables you to book an appointment at a different consulate with available slots.
