The Unlimited CPT Renewal Myth: What Day-1 CPT Is and Is Not
The idea that Day-1 CPT means “unlimited CPT forever” comes from the fact that CPT may be authorized multiple times during your academic program. However, CPT is always tied to your specific degree, curriculum, employment, and approved authorization period.
You generally need to request or renew CPT authorization for each applicable term or authorization period. Receiving CPT repeatedly does not mean you have a permanent or independent work permit. You may work only under the conditions and dates listed in your CPT authorization.
