S2 Q&A: I'm on CPT at my current school - what happens to my job when I transfer?
Your CPT is authorized by your current school for its program, so it doesn't carry over: you can't keep working on it after your record moves, and you can work again only once the new school approves CPT. That usually means a short unpaid break, so we set the release date close to your new start date and ask both DSOs to confirm your last CPT workday. Stay enrolled full-time until the release date.
