S2 Q&A: Can I travel abroad while my application is pending?

If you're F-1 or on OPT, a trip while a school application is pending is generally fine as long as your re-entry documents are valid (visa, I-20 with a recent travel signature, EAD and job letter if on OPT) - but any trip near your transfer or status-change dates is a different question, and COS applicants generally shouldn't leave the US once the COS is filed.
