Competition, Scoring and Rules

All judging in the Ms. Petite and Miss Petite Teen International Pageants is conducted by a panel of professional judges. The scores from each judge are kept confidential until completion of the pageant, and tabulated by a designated official auditor.

The scoring system developed for our pageant system has been designed to be both fair and accurate, placing high emphasis on the merits and personality of the contestants, rather than simple appearance. Each round of competition employs a different scoring method, as described below:

Preliminary Rounds (all contestants):

One-On-One Personal Interviews ----------------- 40% of total preliminary score

Each contestant meets with each judge individually for a 3-4 minute personal interview. Interview conditions are structured, but the content of the interviews are not. This is the judges' best opportunity to get to know each contestant's personality and goals.
Range of scoring is 1-10 per contestant.

Swimwear ("Ms." category only) ----------------- 30% of total preliminary score

Contestants model on stage in their choice of swimwear. Suggested swimwear is two-piece, solid colored. No thongs, T-backs or G-strings will be allowed. Only Ms. contestants will participate in this competition.
Range of scoring is 1-10 per contestant.

Sportswear ("Teen" category only) -------------- 30% of total preliminary score

Contestants model on stage in their choice of sportswear. Sportswear outfits can be pant suits, dresses, skirt sets or any other ensemble that shows a fun yet sophisticated side to each teen. Only teen contestants will participate in this competition.
Range of scoring is 1-10 per contestant.

Evening Gown ------------------------------------- 30% of total preliminary score

Contestants model on stage in their choice of evening gowns. Emphasis in this round is on grace and elegance, so each contestant will want to choose a gown in which she feels comfortable and radiant.
Range of scoring is 1-10 per contestant.

Semi-final Rounds (Top 12):

One-On-One Personal Interviews ------------------ 25% of total semi-final score

The score from the preliminary round One-On-One Interviews will be carried over to account for 25% of the semi-final round score. Contestants will not have a second personal interview with the judges.
Range of scoring is 1-10 per contestant.

On-Stage Interview -------------------------------- 25% of total semi-final score

Each semifinalist will be asked several questions alone on stage with the mistress of ceremonies. Judges will score based on confidence, stage presence, and personality.
Range of scoring is 1-10 per contestant.

Swimwear ("Ms." category only) ------------------ 25% of total semi-final score

Swimwear modeling for "Ms." contestants only, as described above.
Range of scoring is 1-10 per contestant.

Sportswear ("Teen" category only) -------------- 25% of total semi-final score

Swimwear modeling for Teen contestants only, as described above.
Range of scoring is 1-10 per contestant.

Evening Gown ------------------------------------- 25% of total semi-final score

Evening Gown modeling for all contestants, as described above.
Range of scoring is 1-10 per contestant.

Final Round (Top 5):

Following the on-stage interview, the judges are asked to stack-rank the contestants in the order in which they feel the contestants should place. No numeric score is given - each contestant is simply rated as "winner," "first runner-up," "second runner-up," etc. The place rankings of each judge are each awarded a point score. For each competitor, the points awarded are totaled and the contestant with the highest score is declared the Pageant winner. In the event of a tie, the tie will be broken by scores from One On-One Interviews, then On-Stage Interviews, then Evening Gown, then Swimsuit or Sportswear.
